Um mês de conscientização do câncer de próstata. O mês de novembro foi o escolhido justamente por comemorar, no dia 17, o Dia Mundial de Combate ao Câncer de Próstata.
O câncer de próstata é o segundo tipo de câncer mais incidente na população masculina, em todas as regiões do país, atrás apenas dos tumores de pele não melanoma. No Brasil, estimam-se 71.730 novos casos de câncer de próstata por ano para o triênio 2023-2025. Atualmente, é a segunda causa de óbito por câncer na população masculina, reafirmando sua importância epidemiológica no país.
Os exames utilizados para a investigação diagnóstica do câncer de próstata são o PSA e o toque retal.
Recomenda-se a manutenção do peso corporal adequado, de modo a diminuir o risco de câncer de próstata avançado. No entanto, destacamos a importância de adotar diversos hábitos saudáveis, como: fazer atividade física, ter uma alimentação saudável, evitar bebidas alcoólicas e não fumar, para evitar o risco de doenças crônicas, dentre elas, o câncer.
